Rock Canyon Mist

For our pre-Sundance hike, it was a beautiful misty day in Rock Canyon. It was kind of warm and precipitating rain, so made for very slushy hike, there was lots of snow that was melting, the kind of weather one might expect in March.

The Road to Sundance

The dogs and I pose near Green River.

Near Green River, funny it looks a lot like Grand Junction (same line of Book Cliffs).

Mr. Bear on a Park City bench with whom I have a long-term, long-distance relationship. I don't mind who he sees while I'm not there and vice versa, and he always welcomes me back.

SFF 2009! Our 5th year in a row, I guess it's a tradition.

Sundance Film Fest 09

Nighttime shot with Mr. Bear. I wasn't fashionable but I was comfortable! Folks dress pretty casual for the film fest, including celebs.

Audience and jury choice for US drama went to "Push: Based on a Novel by Sapphire," pictured are the director and the main star of the movie. We were the last 2 people into the 1000-seat theater. We only went to one movie this year because they raised the price this year for waitlist tickets from $10 a piece to $15 a piece.
The movie is the new "The Color Purple." The writer of the novel, the director, and most of the actors are from Harlem. It is about a 16-year-old, illiterate, obese, black girl living in Harlem, trying to go to school, getting beat up by her mother, who is pregnant for the second time by her father, and her first child has Down syndrome. Talk about things to overcome.
The movie was very well done, did not really show anything graphic (thank goodness), but was very well received.
Sundance film fest movies are really fun. Everyone claps at the end, these guys got a standing ovation, and there is a question and answer session at the end.
The director said he was very surprised by the reception this movie received by a Utah audience. The audiences do not really seem to be mostly Utah audiences though, as we meet people from all over the world at Sundance Film Festival.

Lockets of Love

Inspired by my niece, Lucille Smith, to donate my hair to locks of love. I've wanted to do it f0r a long time. Locks of Love does not accept gray hair, so I wanted to do it while I still can.
My hair hasn't been this short for 25 years.
The upside is it is a breeze to comb and wash, and I feel very liberated.
